How does the memory in permgen/metaspace gets cleaned up?

Resizing of permgen/metaspace requires full GCs. However, they are not collected on most full GCs, but only collected when full.

If you are looking for a solution to an Out Of Memory Error, please refer to the permgen/metaspace section @ http://javajee.com/out-of-memory-errors-in-java.
